While camping- Smoke? Oh good, they got the fire going! Man I love the smell of a campfire in the evening.
At home in my half suburban/half rural hometown- Smoke? Ah it’s the neighbors again. They’re getting to be a bunch of pyromaniacs. Better close the window.
In my apartment in the city- Smoke? Where is it coming from? Is it the restaurant next door? It is from the hallway? IS MY BUILDING ON FIRE? WHAT IF SOME GUY FELL ASLEEP THREE FLOORS BELOW ME WHILE TOASTING SOME HOT POCKETS AND THAT ENTIRE FLOOR IS ENGULFED IN FLAMES NOW AND I’M JUST SITTING HERE WATCHING NETFLIX?
Needless to say, I’m not entirely sure what is burning up a storm nearby right now, so if you hear on the news that my building happens to be on fire, will you let a girl know?
So far, starting at 8 AM, I’ve heard:
